PURCHASE OF BINS<\/h2>\n
You can get the wheeled bins at the Town Hall:<\/strong>
\n360-litre wheeled bins are available at a price of $100 (taxes included)<\/strong>.
\nTo order, inquire by calling 450-298-5133 ext. 125<\/strong>.<\/p>\nPLEASE NOTE: <\/strong>Recycling bins (blue) and composting bins (brown) are the property of the Municipality and must remain at the address of the building even if you move house.<\/p>\nCOLLECTION INSTRUCTIONS<\/h2>\n
To allow for a clean and safe garbage collection, we ask that you follow the following guidelines (Inform your tenants and visitors, if applicable):<\/p>\n
\n- The use of green garbage bins is mandatory<\/li>\n
- Drop off your bins the evening before<\/span><\/strong> collection<\/li>\n
- the bins must be placed so that the opening of the lid points towards the street, according to the instructions printed on the top of the lid. They must be placed as close as possible to the street and must not be too close to poles, mailboxes and your other bin (leave a space of about one metre (40 inches)<\/li>\n
- Do not place waste \/ recyclables on the cover or next to the bin<\/li>\n
- Clean your bin regularly (to counter odours)<\/li>\n
- Make sure your bin is sturdy and in good order<\/li>\n
- Bulky and oversized items are not collected<\/li>\n
- Do not throw away your dangerous items<\/li>\n
- Review the list of items to drop off at the ECOCENTRE: www.mrcbm.qc.ca\/en\/ecocentres<\/a><\/li>\n
- Biomedical waste must be disposed of in places specifically authorized for this purpose. Most pharmacies accept expired medications.<\/li>\n
- Tires, used oils and paints are collected by certain businesses in the region<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

You are invited to consult the Ecocitizen’s Guide by the MRC de Brome-Missisquoi.<\/a><\/p>\nCOLLECTION OF BULKY ITEMS AND CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS<\/h2>\n
Following a decision by the municipal council taken in 2022, the municipality stopped offering the home collection service for large waste items. To get rid of bulky items and construction, renovation and demolition materials, you can do so at the Cowansville ecocentre.<\/p>\n
